Success is....

To me, success is being able to be present. I have formed a life that simplifies and filters out a lot of distractions. I am able to be present with my family when I am home. I have a career that makes me feel needed and allows me to reflect on myself. Having enough time to be with the people who are important to you is nice. Also having time to act on those thoughts, that's where the success is. It is a balance I’m still working on but it’s better than it’s ever been.

Dear Future Me....

Have you found balance yet? I have been at it for a few weeks now and would love to know if it sticks..... I keep finding myself; pushed and stretched in every direction. It is like I have too much space around me.

They way I picture it is; I am like a Hermit Crab. I was ready for the next step. I made the dangerous jump, left my cramped shell behind and dove head first into the next. I expected my new surroundings to feel different but I didn't expect the fear. I can't help the voice in side myself asking, "Did I skip a size?". My little crab body is getting worked. I'm bouncing off the walls like a cartoon after they ate something hot!

My shell is beautiful! Looks nice..., feels nice..., market was right... You know all the things that you say to convince yourself that you are ready to pull the goalie and start a family. I really am happy with this large upgrade(I cant help thinking that the "really" is coming off desperate.) If I’m being honest, I cant help feeling like my outer world has far surpassed my inner one. My wife and son are my shell and they are not only the best looking bit, but they are the best part of me! I love that, but my inner self needs to find a way to support them. Yoga? Reading? Writing? Photography? Do any of these things bulk up my lil crab body? Do any of these form me into a Father my son will look up to? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? I hope you have a little less wiggle room in that shell future Garrett.....

Love is...
